Six Ounces of Wisdom. Original oil painting.

$0.00

I was drawn to the interaction between light and shadow in this composition, as well as the textural differences between fruit, wood and metal. The patina on the brass balance has to demonstrate not only changes in colour, but also in the varied levels of illumination from the light source above.

The allusion is to the biblical tree of wisdom, setting a quantum of wisdom against a material measure.

April 2023. Grisaille method.

Painted on aluminium composite panel (ACM), 30cm x 24cm /12” x 9".
